About My Practice

From my experience both as a therapist and as a client, I know that starting therapy is a courageous and vulnerable step. I also know it is one that can lead to deep healing and lasting change, so I’m excited that you’re here and exploring the start of that journey (or a new way to continue it!). My name is Sundaura Lithman. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and have trained extensively in the Internal Family Systems Therapy Model including completion of Levels 1 and 2 from the IFS Institute. I have a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Social Work from Portland State University, and have worked in a variety of diverse environments doing community-based, residential, and out-patient work with individuals of many identities, ages, and other intersectional experiences. My work as a psychotherapist has primarily been with individuals living with complex trauma, chronic pain, and people in the LGBTQ+ community. I also work with addictions, relationship issues, professional development, spirituality as a healing tool, and healing from trauma inflicted by spiritual or religious communities. As a transgender woman, and someone who has worked for years with communities impacted by systemic oppression, my work is rooted in both compassion and unconditional positive regard for clients, as well as social justice and anti-oppressive values. Internal Family Systems (IFS) is non-pathologizing and normalizes the idea of having many parts of our personalities that we can befriend as allies in healing our inner and outer lives. IFS facilitates a transformative process, where fear, shame, “stuckness”, and painful memories can be safely addressed, and individuals can reclaim a more empowered and Self-led life. It incorporates elements of mindfulness and somatic practices, humanistic therapies, systems thinking, spirituality, and neuroscience. In addition to my training in various forms of psychotherapy, my work has also been influenced by body-workers, energy healers, shamanic practitioners, teachers of yoga and breath work, and leaders in the field of psychedelic-assisted therapy. Please feel free to send me a message if you’re interested in scheduling a session or a free 20 minute consultation. I would be honored to work with you and support you in your journey.
